Before you start, download and install Telegram Desktop: https://desktop.telegram.org/ or use the web version https://web.telegram.org/.

If you don't know whether you want to use a Telegram channel or a Telegram group chat to receive your alerts, here are some tips:

  • A Telegram channel is a power-charged version of the WhatsApp Broadcast list and a medium for one-way broadcast messages

  • A Telegram group is similar to any other chat group where people can interact by sending messages. However, the group admins can restrict messages from members or make the group public or private, and they can even make other members admins.

Now let's check the setup guide for both options.

How to set up a Telegram Channel

  1. Select New Channel on the left panel. Make sure to use Telegram Desktop, as Telegram Web doesn't allow adding bots to channels:

    - Enter your channel name

    - Adjust the channel settings if needed

  2. Invite @coinstatsmidasbot to your new channel:

    - Go to Channel Info and select the Administrators option
    - Add new Admin @coinstatsmidasbot (only needs to be able to post messages in the channel)

  3. Send the command /chatid to the channel to get its ID

Note: some Chat IDs include the minus sign.

  4. Click on the Chat ID, copy the value, and paste it into the Telegram ID field in the CoinStats Midas Alerts from this link: https://coinstats.app/midas/smart-alerts/.

How to set up a Telegram Group

  1. Select New Group on the left panel:

    - Select users for the new group
    - Enter your group name

  2. Invite @coinstatsmidasbot to your new channel:

    - Go to Group Info
    - Choose +Add
    - Select Add new Member and type @coinstatsmidasbot

  3. Send the command /chatid to the channel to get its ID

Note: some Chat IDs include the minus sign.

  4. Copy the Chat ID value and paste it into the Telegram ID field in the CoinStats Midas Alerts form.

Please consider that after upgrading a Group to a Super Group, its Chat ID changes. You'll need to update it respectively in the CoinStats app. To get the updated Chat ID, send /chatid to the group.
